Rosa Remember Me (‘Cocdestin’) (PBR)

Can I keep this in a large pot?

Hello there Most roses prefer to grow in the ground as they need the depth for their roots, but yes you could grow this lovely rose in a pot as long as it is a deep pot, 40-45cm deep. Plant using John Innes No 3 compost along with about 10-20% multi-purpose compost or a very well-rotted manure and do keep it well watered and fed. Roses can be prone to powdery mildew if they dry out. Hope this helps

2014-04-17 Plants for a sunny border to compliment a tangerine coloured Rose……. Hi, I have a newly built patio, which incorporates a 5 metre by just over 1 metre bed, south facing in full sun. (when the sun shines!) I have already purchased 8 tangerine roses which I had thought to underplant with some Alchemilla mollis… but I am at a bit of a loss. I had thought to make it very bright with the tangerine/lime colourway but maybe I need to add some dark purple leaved Heuchera? Do they like full sun? Also I would have liked some height at the back….? On the north length of the bed is the patio, on the south length are two oak sleeper holding back a raised lawn. Can you please help me, I started off doing my purchases from you but really I need some professional advice as to what will work together. The 8 rose bushes are the only purchase so far. Regards

Hello There, I like all your ideas and think it will look very dramatic. Both the Alchemilla and the Heucheras will flourish in full sun or partial shade so they should be absolutely fine. I would not go for anything else too tall as the roses are only reasonably compact and will prefer not to have too much competition, however you could put in a few dark purple Penstemons such as P. Raven to add a bit of height. http://www.crocus.co.uk/plants/_/perennials/penstemon-raven/classid.7316/ I hope this helps. Helen Plant Doctor

Disease resistant roses for a coastal area Hi, Before I order some roses I need some information on which ones would grow well in our local conditions. I live in the far west of Cornwall, the soil is fairly acid,- Camellias grow well here. It’s windy and the air is quite salt laden since we’re not far from the sea. I’d like disease resistant plants if possilbe since the climbing roses by the cottage door do get black spot. At the moment, even here, where we hardly ever have a frost, there is 4 inches of snow on the ground and the temperature has been 0 to minus 1 for the past five days…. the postman hasn’t reached us for four days! …So, I won’t be ordering the roses right now. Thanks, Trudi

Hello Trudi, All roses need similar growing conditions, although a couple are slightly more tolerant of shade than others. If you click on the following link it will take you to all our roses that show some resistance to diseases. http://www.crocus.co.uk/plants/_/roses/plcid.8/vid.243/ I hope this helps. Plant to remember my cat….. Hello, My cat recently died and in his memory I want to plant something that will last all year round which is hardy. Most of all it would be great if it could in some way reflect his gentle nature. Do you have any ideas? Many thanks
